Akave Update Q2 2025
April: Cracking Open the Analytics Layer
We started by making it possible for enterprises to run analytics directly on decentralized data, no new tools required.
With the first decentralized Snowflake integration, enterprises can now query on‑chain data lakes using the SQL workflows they already know, powered by Iceberg tables and a standard S3 stage.
- Structured and unstructured data now flow into AI pipelines.
- Enterprises keep their workflows and gain auditability, transparency, and freedom from lock‑in.
May:The O3 Gateway, Our First Birthday, and Builder Firepower
May was a month of milestones.
On May 15, Akave turned one year old. A year of turning vision into protocol, and protocol into product.
That same week, we stepped onto the global stage at Consensus Toronto, sharing Akave’s vision with builders, enterprises, and investors shaping the decentralized future.
And then came the Akave O3 gateway, the connective tissue that makes Akave’s protocol speak fluent S3.
This wasn’t just another release. It was a turning point:
- Retention policies & ACL enforcement, all immutable executed
- Multipart performance boosts to drive performance
- CLI tooling puts easy commands to backup and control data in builders’ hands.
We extended the network’s reach with new integrations:
- DuckDB for local analytics
- Rclone for seamless cloud migration
- Snowflake for SQL and Iceberg compatibility
- CloudMounter to mount Akave as a native drive
- MCP Server so LLMs like ChatGPT, Claude, and Ollama can query Akave directly

We participated in the Encode Club where we put O3 in the hands of real builders receiving great feedback on how easy it is to connect to existing apps.

June: Proof in Prague
June was the proving ground. At ETHGlobal Prague 2025, 21 teams built on Akave, Filecoin, and Protocol Labs, reimagining what a sovereign data economy could look like.

Meanwhile, a key protocol upgrade landed:
- Merkle proof verification for data integrity you can prove
- Block repair tools for continuous data availability
- Performance gains so enterprises can scale without compromise
July: Akave Cloud Goes Live
On July 9, we lit the beacon: Akave Cloud went live on Avalanche Layer 1, announced in partnership with Avalanche.
This isn’t just storage. It’s the first decentralized data layer designed for scale.
- S3-compatible, zero‑friction onboarding for enterprises and builders
- Client-side encryption + smart‑contract access control with zero trust, enforced by code
- Immutable, verifiable audit trails supporting compliance without compromise
- Hybrid architecture with Filecoin for hot and cold tiers for optimal cost and durability
- No egress fees. Unlike AWS, GCP, or Wasabi, Akave doesn’t tax you for retrieving your own data. That means predictable economics and AI pipelines that scale without hidden costs

Compare Akave Cloud to other providers
The First Workshop
On July 16, we hosted our first live builder workshop (watch here), walking developers through O3 integrations and Rclone to migrate data over from AWS cloud to Akave Cloud and save up to 80% on cost savings.
Live with Avalanche
Following the launch, we joined Avalanche Live to share the vision for Akave Cloud with the broader community.
Partnering with Filecoin
On July 23, we announced our collaboration with Filecoin, bringing verifiable cold storage to Akave Cloud. This partnership expands our hybrid architecture, combining Akave’s high‑throughput decentralized hot tier with Filecoin’s globally distributed cold tier.

Listening to Builders & Enterprises and What’s Next
The feedback was clear: Identity and Access Management (IAM) is a must‑have for enterprises. We’re building IAM directly into Akave Cloud — delivering fine‑grained permissions with policies enforced on‑chain.
We’re also bringing a Graphical User Interface (GUI) online, so storage admins can easily manage data, buckets, and access policies without relying on the CLI.
And because sovereignty means choice, we’re introducing self‑hosted capabilities for Akave O3. Every customer will have the option to run their own gateway, giving them full self‑custody control over their data and policies without depending on a third party.
At the core, our belief holds: data should be in self‑custody. With Akave, the keys stay with you. Access, retention, and compliance are enforced by code, not middlemen.
Looking Ahead: The Next Layer
The foundation is built. The network is alive. Sovereignty is winning.
Next, we scale:
- Focused on onboarding more enterprise customers
- Roll out IAM, the GUI, and self‑hosted O3 to deliver further enterprise‑grade usability without centralization.
- Deepen integrations and qualifications with more Enterprise apps.
- Keep reinforcing our cost advantage: no egress fees, no lock‑in, no compromise leading to up to 80% savings vs. Cloud storage.

Akave Cloud is an enterprise-grade, distributed and scalable object storage designed for large-scale datasets in AI, analytics, and enterprise pipelines. It offers S3 object compatibility, cryptographic verifiability, immutable audit trails, and SDKs for agentic agents; all with zero egress fees and no vendor lock-in saving up to 80% on storage costs vs. hyperscalers.
Akave Cloud works with a wide ecosystem of partners operating hundreds of petabytes of capacity, enabling deployments across multiple countries and powering sovereign data infrastructure. The stack is also pre-qualified with key enterprise apps such as Snowflake and others.
